Division Mission
Study, formulate and recommend positions on local, state and national governmental issues which impact the chamber membership and the local business community.
Activities of this division include monitoring, evaluating and helping to formulate legislative issues, holds forums with local, state, and national governmental officials, evaluates ballot issues that affect local businesses and the community and makes recommendations to the Chamber Board for endorsements. It helps to develop policy on issues, legislation, regulations and other governmental actions that affect the membership and the community. It works with the Dona Ana Legislative Coalition to establish common legislative goals that will benefit the region. It sponsors candidate forums and provides candidate training.
Committees
Candidates & Elections – Responsible for influencing the election of business-friendly candidates to local governmental offices through candidate interviews or candidate training.
Governmental Affairs – Responsible for studying local, state and federal issues that are of importance to the membership and developing recommended positions and strategies on those issues.
