Participants look at how the city, county run

Junior Leadership, a program developed by the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, is composed of area high school students who are currently enrolled in their junior year of high school. Participants in this year’s program are students who attend Las Cruces, Mayfield, Centennial, Oñate and Arrowhead Park Early College high schools.

The purpose of the Junior Leadership Program is to show future community leaders what Doña Ana County has to offer and how they can help make changes or imple­ment their ideas to better the city.

County continues efforts to make progress, city sets high standards

The Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce held its first Membership Update Luncheon of the year Feb. 28 at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum. The annual luncheon provides Chamber members and members of the community the opportunity to listen to cur­rent projects and progress within the city and county.

Start-up business benefits from Chamber connection

Every quarter, the Council of Conquistadores, the goodwill ambassa­dors for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, selects a new business to be awarded with the New Small & Minority Business Scholarship. The council selects applicants and engages them in a mentor­ship program, which will provide guidance and assistance through Chamber resources. The first quarter, the Conquistadores awarded OneEighty, a start-up company, with the scholarship. My son Brandon runs the e-commerce division at COAS Books. This position involves many hours of setting up and maintaining systems, leading and giving direction to his staff and focusing on staying current with the rapidly changing trends in e-commerce.
