Spaceport America, NM – Spaceport America will host its first-ever Private Pilots Fly-in on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. This is the first time that the New Mexico Spaceport Authority (NMSA) will open up the spaceport to this kind of event. The spaceport currently has over 5,000 annual visitors that see the spaceport by taking one of the weekly public bus tours. Holding a fly-in event like this was a result of the growing number of requests from private pilots to fly into the spaceport to take a tour.

First I would like to thank former board chair Mike Beckett for his leadership this past year. The business community had many challenges in 2014. White Sands Missile Range Public Affairs Office
A rocket launched from White Sand Missile Range took new images of the sun during a scientific mission conducted Nov. 6.
The rocket, a Black Brant IX sounding rocket launched from WSMRs sounding rocket complex at Launch Complex 36, carried a payload of various telescopes and spectrographs. Under the Rapid Acquisition Imaging Spectrograph Experiment, the rocket rapidly took about 1,500 images of the sun on its flight that took it to an altitude of near 281 kilometers above the earth.

On Las Cruces Day in Santa Fe, Monday, Feb. 2, state Rep. Terry McMillan, R-Las Cruces, was made honorary speaker of the House as he introduced visiting members of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
The day ended with Las Crucens visiting the governor’s residence attended by Gov. Susana Martinez herself, wrapping up a weekend that gave Chamber members insight to the current 60-day session in which Republicans have control of the House for the first time in more than 60 years.
