It must be true, as my lovely wife has already accumulated the much-needed school supplies for the kids, and has plans to take them to go pick out their backpacks for the upcoming school year.
This also means the second year of our Junior Leadership program is about to be rolled out in Las Cruces area schools.

Given the general state of our economy, I am still looking forward to 2014 and what it could bring southern New Mexico. We weathered the storm of the recent recession better than some places. That isn’t to say there weren’t people and businesses impacted during it, there were.
Thanks to MVEDA, there continues to be activity in Las Cruces and the county. It’s great to see construction projects under way as it is a source of gross receipts tax revenue and a sign outside businesses see the area as an attractive place to locate.

It was great to see all the first-time participants at Las Cruces Day in Santa Fe, especially the newer Conquistadores. Las Cruces Day in Santa Fe would not be possible without the support we receive from the Conquistadores. Because we had a good number of “less tenured” folks take time out of their busy schedules to be there, it bodes well for the long-term future of the event. Chamber visits Washington, D.C. WSMR one agenda item
Members of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce made an annual trip to Washington, D.C., in March.
Despite losing almost an entire day to a late-winter snow storm, members were able to meet with seven high-level Pentagon officials, members of seven different federal delegations, one organization with military ties to the region and one company interested in locating to Las Cruces, as well as attended three briefings at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
