Chamber adds Richardson, Van Winter to board of directorsThe Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the addition of two community leaders to its board of directors - Rob Richardson of Bohannan Huston Inc. and Terra Van Winter of Mesilla Valley Hospice. The Chamber has also expanded the role of board member Leslie Cervantes of the Las Cruces Public Schools, who has been elected to the position of secretary on the Chamber's Executive Committee.
Calling Las Cruces home since 1978, Richardson graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from New Mexico State University in 1982. After obtaining his professional engineering license, he began his own engineering firm - The Trebor Group - where he provided engineering services for municipal infrastructure projects to local private and public entities. In 1998 The Trebor Group merged with Bohannan Huston Inc. Bohannan Huston provides a full range of engineering, spatial data, and advanced technology services for federal, state and local agencies. Since the merger, Bohannan Huston has grown from 133 employees with offices in Las Cruces and Albuquerque to over 200 employees and additional offices in Denver Colorado and Dallas Texas. Richardson currently serves as the chair of the Leadership Las Cruces program for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
Van Winter earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies with minor in health sciences from NMSU in 2001 and her master's degree in public health from NMSU in 2005. In 2001, she began as community relations coordinator for Camino de Vida Center for HIV Services. In 2002, Van Winter began as community relations coordinator for Mesilla Valley Hospice and now serves as development director focusing on working with the various agency donors. Mesilla Valley Hospice recently completed a $7 million capital campaign project to expand its facilities. Van Winter also serves as the current chair of the Conquistadores, goodwill ambassadors for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
Cervantes received her bachelor's degree in human resource management from NMSU in 1986. She is the school community partnerships coordinator and executive director of the Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation. The foundation attracts and manages private gift and project funds to benefit the students of the Las Cruces Public Schools. She has served as a board member and fundraiser for numerous nonprofit boards.
