The first annual Comcast City/County Update Luncheon presented by the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2550 S. Don Roser Drive.

The event will feature presentations from Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima and Dona Ana County Manager Brian Haines.

Miyagishima has lived in Las Cruces since 1971 and graduated from New Mexico State University in 1985 with degrees in finance and real estate. In 1984 - while still attending NMSU - Miyagishima began his insurance and financial services business, which he still owns today. He was first elected to the city council in 2001 and was elected mayor in 2007.

Haines received his CPA certification in 1988. He is the former county Finance Director. He has 15 years of public accounting experience specializing in government audits, including 10 years with the Las Cruces firm of Kriegel and Co., Ltd. He has been County Manager since July 8, 2003.

The City/County Update Luncheon is the fourth in the new series of "Update Luncheons" to be hosted by the Chamber this year. The final luncheons of the year will feature a forum of the New Mexico candidates for governor and an update on the future of local military.
