Billed monthly with all rates set by City Council. Gas and Water meter readings are taken once a month. The amount billed is associated with gas and water used, plus a monthly access charge. A customer may be required to pay a minimum $60.00 utility deposit when activating services.
Rio Grande Natural Gas Association is a separate entity and operated by the Las Cruces Utility Board of Commissioners. The RG NGA Board of Directors establishes all rates, service charges, deposits and policy. For more information call 526-6157.
Cost of Services - Residential Rates
Water
- Access (monthly) Charge is $6.82
Volume Charge for Summer Period (billing months of June, July, August & September)
- 0 to 3,000 gallons - $0.70 per 1,000 gallons
- Over 3,000 gallons - $2.08 per 1,000 gallons
Volume Charge for Non-Summer Period (all other billing months)
- 0 to 3,000 gallons - $0.70 per 1,000 gallons
- Over 3,000 gallons - $1.89 per 1,000 gallons
The billings also include a water Rights fee of $0.11 per 1,000 gallons and a Development Impact Fee (DIF) Rider fee of $0.04 per 1,000
What is reflected is the Residential Water Rate plus the Water Rights Fee.
City Gas

- $13.75 monthly access charge

- $11.29 Senior Citizens over 60 years of age (one container only)

- Curbside recycling $2.59 per month
- Solid waste fees will not be suspended unless all City utility services are terminated.

- Yearly average depends on December, January and February water consumption
- 0 to 2,000 gallons - $1.30 per 1,000 gallons
- more than 2,000 gallons - $2.34 per 1,000 gallons

El Paso Electric (EPE) first began serving its customers on August 30, 1901. It was then known as the El Paso Electric Railway Company. Initially its primary business consisted of providing transportation via mule-drawn streetcars, which were replaced in 1902 with electric streetcars.
Today, El Paso Electric is a regional electric utility providing generation, transmission and distribution service to approximately 372,000 retail and wholesale customers in a 10,000 square mile area of the Rio Grande valley in west Texas and southern New Mexico.
