Range undergoes restructuring

New Mexico will lose its only active duty Army unit By Adriana Salas Missile Ranger Staff Writer White Sands Missile Range and New Mexico will soon lose their only active duty Army unit when the 2nd Engineer Battalion begins to reorganize this summer. The reassignment is part of an Army Core Structure Change that went into effect in October 2013. The different companies in the battalion are scheduled to be reorganized within other units on different installations. Services recognized on regional level

By Adriana Salas Missile Ranger Staff Writer The White Sands Missile Range Fire Department was recently awarded the Fire and Emergency Services Annual Central Region Award as the department of the year in the medium size category. This is the first year the department has been recognized at a regional level. “We were able to articulate our accomplishments better this year than in previous years,” WSMR Fire Chief Carlos Soto said.
