FIRE DETACHMENTS CONDUCT DRILLS AT HOLLOMAN HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. - Members of the 702nd, 582nd, 306th and 907th Fire Detachments from the state of Washington will be here Wednesday, June 24, to Sunday, June 28, for a Mission Readiness Exercise. The training will be held at the Holloman Fire Emergency Services training area and will consist of structural drills, search and rescue and aircraft rescue firefighting. The four firefighting detachments will be training here to prepare for an upcoming deployment. Today Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo space plane fired its rocket engines for the first time during a flight earlier this morning.  This historic  test flight from California's Mojave Air and Spaceport bring Virgin Galactic one giant step closer to beginning flights here in New Mexico!  The vehicle was carried aloft by the mothership  WhiteKnightTwo, and then released in midair at an altitude of about 46,000 feet (14,000 meters). At that point, SpaceShipTwo test fired its rocket engine, designed to propel the craft of the rest of the way up to space.

FirstLight Federal Credit Union Wins National Award June 12, 2015 FirstLight Federal Credit Union, an El Paso/Las Cruces-based consumer financial institution for sixty years, was recently recognized by the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) as the 2014 Army Credit Union of the Year. This is the second time FirstLight Federal Credit Union has won since 2006. At a ceremony during the 2015 annual DCUC conference August 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada, FirstLight will be given the award based on several criteria, including service above and beyond normal requirements, community support, and actions taken against predatory lending practices.
