Local design firm Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (D/P/S) is donating its prize money after winning the 2015 Jeff Harnar Award for the design of Centennial High School in Las Cruces. The firm received $5,000 for the design, which will be given to the Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation to establish a scholarship fund for Las Cruces Public School students who study at UNM School of Architecture and Planning.

Las Cruces has obtained a Class 1 rating from the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), making it the first in New Mexico and one of only 97 communities nationwide, to achieve the top ranking. The rating is based on a scale of 1 – 10 with 1 being the highest. The rating could result in lower insurance premiums for residential and commercial policy holders.

When his alarm clock rings at 4:30 a.m., Rick Jackson is already awake.
“I beat the alarm each morning,” the Las Cruces businessman said.
Jackson, 62, cannot wait to get to the office and the warehouse. He might even be found working on one of the company’s 15 vehicles.
