One of the privileges I have had in my time with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce was to launch the Las Cruces Young Professionals organization.

The launch came about after one-on-one conversations with nearly 100 young professionals in our community, and has led to conversations with countless more since its beginning. There are now nearly 400 individuals participating in the group and nearly 800 interacting on social media.

Spaceport America moving full speed ahead, legislative assistance needed -

Spaceport America is the first purpose-­‐built commercial spaceport in the world. The FAA-­‐licensed launch complex, situated on 18,000 acres adjacent to the U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico, boasts 6,000 mi2 of restricted airspace, low population density, a 12,000-­‐ foot spaceway, and 340+ days of sunshine. Two of the most respected companies in the commercial space industry are tenants at Spaceport America; Virgin Galactic and SpaceX.

Financial Education Training Offered in Conjunction with Money Smart Week Southern New Mexico 2016

The FDIC and Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, El Paso Branch will offer four financial education Train-the-Trainer sessions in Las Cruces in preparation for Money Smart Week 2016. The Las Cruces Chapter of the NAACP and the New Mexico Workforce Connection will be hosting a 2016 Summer Youth Job Fair on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 10 am – 2 pm at the Rio Grande Preparatory Institute- 2355 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces, NM. 

Interested businesses and employers who would like to participate and hire youth in the community should fill out the employer registration form and submit it to Marietta Valdez at marietta.valdez@state.nm.us.
