City’s shopping destination Mall opens doors to community events

The Mesilla Valley Mall first opened in 1981 and was completely remodeled in 2006.

Constructed in 1981 and remodeled in 2006, the Mesilla Valley Mall has become a shopping hub for not only Las Crucens, but all regional residents. The shopping center is the home to 83 stores and is one of the leading shopping locations in Las Cruces.

Its mission statement is “To make Mesilla Valley Mall the premier shopping destination for Southern New Mexico.”

Mesilla Valley Mall’s purpose is to host retailers that will provide the latest fashions and trends, plus entertainment and eateries to consumers in Las Cruces and southern New Mexico.

The shopping center opened after there was a need for a regional retail destination in Las Cruces since the city was the growing hub in the southern portion of the state.

When asked what is unique about Mesilla Valley Mall, Marketing Director Susan Palmer said, “After 30 year, we are still the only regional retail destination serving all of southern New Mexico.”

In the future, the mall administration hopes to bring new and unique retailers to the area. They would like to remain a hub for local community events such as blood drives, the Boy Scout Pine Wood Derby, the Mesilla Valley Iris Society Shows, school exhibits and more.

Due to increased area competition through the years, Mesilla Valley Mall stays ahead of its competitors by bringing new and unique retailers to the market, such as ULTA Beauty, Limited Editions ECCOCI Collections and The Shoe Dept. by ENCORE.

The mall also strives to meet customer needs by providing the services they like.

“Over the years, the mall has done its best to bring retailers to the mall that will complement our shoppers,” Palmar said.

In the future, the mall administration would like to continue to be involved with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and community activities. They would also like to continue to bring unique retailers and entertainment to the region.
