Jardin de los Niños seeks artists

Jun 15th, 2015

Las Cruces, NM—Jardin de los Niños is searching for Las Cruces artists from a variety of mediums to participate in the center's expanded Holiday Card campaign. Jardin's Executive Director, Audrey Hartley, says that the center’s annual Holiday Card campaign will be taking a new—and bigger—turn.  “We are expanding this program to a year-round format, says Hartley.  In addition, Hartley says they are seeking new types of media for the subject matter.  “We are certainly searching for paintings and photographs.  However, we are now inviting artists who use fiber, clay, and any other medium.  Projects can be one-two- or three-dimensional,” Hartley says.  In addition, subject matter in any of the following categories is being sought:  holiday/winter, southwestern, children—the artist is limited by his or her own imagination.

In exchange for donations of art pieces, artists will receive the following benefits:  artist will be featured with a picture of him/herself, the piece donated, and a link from the Jardin website to the artist, a featured photo of the piece on the center’s Facebook page, featured artwork at an artist reception at the campaign kickoff in November, artist’s information featured on the back of each card featuring his/her work.  In addition, the artist will retain his/her copyright, and will allow Jardin limited use of the image of the artwork.  Also, as a means of saying thanks for the artist’s support, the artist is also eligible to receive 30 percent of the sale of the item once it has been sold.   Once the items are donated, pieces will be displayed throughout the city at local businesses prior to the art auction.

Artists are to submit their work at Jardin de los Niños, 999 West Amador beginning June 5, and continuing until 5:00 p.m. July 17.   A committee will judge the artwork, and finalists will be named on July 31.  Please direct any questions to Audrey Hartley at Jardin de los Niños at 575-522-2111.
