Business travel, special events or just a vacation to a location away from home require a place to stay.

You might not always have the luck of having housing by someone you know at all your destinations. So who can you always turn for a reliable room? Hotels. Whether you are looking for a luxury stay or a modern feel, there is a hotel for you.

In Las Cruces, the newest hotel in the area, Holiday Inn Express, has been around since November 2011. Holiday Inn Express is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, which is based in Albuquerque.

Holiday Inn Express strives to attract a wide range of customers. The majority of its customers check in for a short period of time, but the hotel also offers services to long-term occupants.

“We have large rooms that include a kitchen, and two meeting spaces which most hotels don’t offer,” said Assistant General Manager Chris Gurule.

Travelers to White Sands Missile Range are a big part of hotel’s clientele due to its convenient location. During the three years the hotel has been open, it has worked closely with the community and its customers.

To keep ahead of the competition, Holiday Inn Express likes to do things that other hotels don’t do.

“We aim to operate each of our hotels in the top-10 percent ranking nationally,” said General Manager Victor Delgado. “We strive to have excellent culture development and customer service skills along with a proven quality control record. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Las Cruces North consistently has lead in our markets
and is ranked high in the national arena.”

Holiday Inn Express places a high importance on being involved with the community and participating in yearly events. For example, every year the hotel accommodates the participants of the Bataan Memorial Death March by serving breakfast at 3 a.m.

Although Holiday Inn Express has
made a presence in the community through its involvement, Gurule said one of the struggles they encounter is that people still don’t know they are open.

“Turnover and being short staffed is something we also struggle with. Sometimes we have to do more with less,” Gurule said.

In the future, the hotel would like to
be to be a prime location to the market Spaceport America will develop. To recognize the spaceport, the hotel has incorporated a portrait of the facility near the elevators in the building. Holiday Inn Express hopes to remain one of the top hotels in Las Cruces by providing outstanding service and by accommodating to each individual guest’s specific needs.
