First I would like to thank former board chair Mike Beckett for his leadership this past year. The business community had many challenges in 2014. Under his guidance, the Chamber boldly engaged and worked on many difficult issues. The Chamber delivered on its promise to be the Voice of Business in Southern New Mexico.
I am honored to be the next chair of this organization. This year, the Chamber will be starting the first year of a new threeyear strategic plan. This plan, unanimously approved by the board, sets in motion an expansion of the Chamber’s role in our community. It will focus intently on the goal of a vibrant local economy.
The Chamber will proactively seek to develop and champion pro-business policies and legislation in our local and state government. We will recruit, train and endorse candidates who support and work for a thriving business community, a local growing economy and the addition and creation of local jobs.
We will also be expanding our role in workforce development that began with Skill Ready Doa Ana. We will continue our traditional role of connecting businesses to opportunities with networking and educational events.
This will be an exciting year, if you are not a member, we encourage you to join the effort.
Russell Allen, Chair of the Board Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce
