Finding Future Leaders

Aug 6th, 2013

Bill Allen, President and CEO of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of CommerceI cannot believe this is already the August edition of The Bottom Line.

It must be true, as my lovely wife has already accumulated the much-needed school supplies
for the kids, and has plans to take them to go pick out their backpacks for the upcoming school year.

This also means the second year of our Junior Leadership program is about to be rolled out in Las Cruces area schools.

We were extremely happy with our first experience with Junior Leadership and are excited to build on it this year. What does this mean to you?

Well, if you know of a soon-to-be high school junior that would benefit from meaningful community experiences, as well as the opportunity to learn leadership and public speaking skills, tell them applications for the 2013-14 Junior Leadership class will be available on the first day of school at all area high schools.

Last school year, we had 21 fantastic students participate in our inaugural class of Junior Leadership, and every one said they would recommend this program to their friends. We expect an even larger class this year. Please pass the word so we don’t miss anyone that would be interested in this great experiential program.

For those of you who are Leadership Las Cruces alumni – imagine how you would have grown by taking a program very similar to what you experienced in adult leadership while you were still in high school. I truly believe Junior Leadership delivers impactful learning in a different setting than traditional school. It’s an experience that cannot be taken away from those that participate.

If you have any questions about our Junior Leadership program or would like to recommend a student participant, please don’t hesitate to call us at 524-1968.
