Chamber names new president/CEO
The Board of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has named
Debbi Moore as its new president and CEO.
Moore, who has more than 30 years experience with various chambers and nonprofits in Texas and New Mexico, including the chambers in Hobbs and Albuquerque, joined the Rio Rancho organization in May 2002, one of 65 applicants for the job. She previously worked three years with the American Diabetes Association and before that, several years with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. She was with the Hobbs chamber from 1989 to 1997.
Russell Allen, chairman of the board of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, said Moore was selected from among a dozen candidates.
"One of the things we were looking for was a strong chamber background," Russell Allen said. "Her 14 years there and in Hobbs, and her talents just shined and we were very impressed. We made her an offer and we're happy she accepted."
She will assume the post at the beginning of May and is excited to lead our Chamber and join our community.
"This is a great opportunity to join a great chamber," Moore said. "The chamber has a four-star accreditation and there are great people involved in the chamber and also in the community."
"I love Las Cruces," said Moore who, along with her husband, has family in both Doña Ana and Alamogordo. "Having watched it from afar, I can tell there is a strong sense of community. There is great history there, and the people treasure that while also being forward looking and dedicated to the community."
Moore began working with chambers of commerce in the early 1980s in Waxahachie, Texas, where she earned degrees in business administration and education at Southwestern College.
