The Community Development Department administers the processing and issuance of business registrations and licensing for any type of business activity within the city. Planning & Zoning
The Community Development Department addresses all zoning issues for the City from initial zoning requests to special use permits. Community Development
The Community Development Department conducts a variety of planning activities for the City of Sunland Park and serves the function of central permitting agency for building permits, business registrations, zoning, subdivisions, sign permits, business license and registration, economic development and revitalization, and a host of other activities. New businesses within the county must register with the County Clerk’s office before engaging in business. The county provides a list of prerequisites and information on the business registration process along with criteria for temporary vendors and downloadable forms you will need to register.

New Mexico Secretary of State’s Corporations bureau is statutorily mandated with the filing, maintenance and retention of corporate records for New Mexico and out of state corporations, limited liability companies, cooperative associations, foreign business trusts and other business entities. Domestic and foreign corporate entities and other business entities will be able to file their articles of incorporation, articles of organization, annual reports, dissolutions and other required filings as defined by statute with this bureau. Foreign entities will be able to obtain a certificate of authority to transact business in New Mexico.

New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC)

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) regulates the utilities, telecommunications, and motor carrier industries to ensure fair and reasonable rates, and to assure reasonable and adequate services to the public as provided by law.

The NMPRC promotes public safety through the offices of state fire marshal, the firefighter training academy, and pipeline safety bureau and transportation division.

New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department
All new businesses who plan on operating in New Mexico must register with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department and obtain a New Mexico Tax ID number. You must also have your New Mexico Tax ID before you can register a business in Doña Ana County.

The Regulation and Licensing Department is where you apply for or renew your professional license. Verify a contractor’s license, or apply for a permit. Locate a licensed professional in your area.
